When it comes to prime locations, this pretty white washed, Mediterranean style property is hard to beat with its beautiful beachfront setting on Maxwell Beach - claimed to be one of the best in Barbados. It is also only a few minutes walk from the lively attractions of St Lawrence Gap.
Accommodation
This is a great option for more independent holidaymakers who are keen to do their own thing, but enjoy all the benefits of hotel facilities when they want them. As the rooms at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort come with their own well equipped kitchens, guests are free to whip up their own meals if they want to cater for themselves. Most rooms and suites within the resort have recently been refurbished with new soft furnishings to bring a more contemporary feel for the guests to feel comfortable in.
Dining Out
Alternatively, you can pop into the hotel's own three restaurants with the new Italian themed restaurant 'Buoni Amici', which opened in October 2008, or take a five minute walk along the beach to hunt out the bars and restaurants at St Lawrence Gap or - the casual beachside Lanterns by the Sea or its gourmet dining Water's Edge a la carte eatery.
Activities
As well as being convenient, the hotel's picturesque surroundings are enhanced by the two freeform swimming pools that meander through the tropical gardens leading on to the beach - one with its own cascading waterfalls and the other with a decadent swim up bar. For more serious swimmers there is also a lap pool, while youngsters can take the plunge in two kids' wading mini pools.
Children's Entertainment
The hotel's Adventureland Playroom is a hub for fun and games and the home of the kid's club. The new outdoor play area boasts swings, mini-trampoline and a petting area with rabbits and tortoises for kids, while adults can opt for the wide range of water sports with kayaks, boogie boards and snorkelling offered free of charge from the beach.
Facilties
The hotel has now introduced free WI-FI in-room and throughout the resort.
