A charming resort in a beautiful location on Antigua's north east coast, designed to blend into its unspoilt natural surroundings. The emphasis here is on peace and seclusion with no cars, or anything which threatens to disturb the laidback ambience.
Location
The Verandah is one of the newest names on Antigua's hotel scene and its setting in 30 acres on the edge of a national park means it takes its environmental responsibilities seriously.
Accommodation
Guests arrive at the stand alone reception area where they are checked in before being taken up to main resort by golf cart - a trip that takes just a few minutes. Set on its own headland between two sandy coves protected by a reef, the centrepiece of the resort is its large freeform swimming pool surrounded by white washed cottages split into two one bedroom apartments, with wonderful views over the sparkling emerald waters.
The rooms are light, airy and spacious with a bedroom, kitchen area, large bathroom and the piece d'resistance - wide balconies - perfect for in room dining.
Activities
Guests can choose from three sandy beaches and take their pick from the range of non-motorised watersports. Then there's the spa, library, internet café, tennis and fitness centre.
Children's Entertainment
Kids are not forgotten either. The kids' club has been designed by celebrity interior designer Linda Barker with different rooms for various activities and an impressive outdoor climbing frame and kids' pool.
Dining Out
And if this works up an appetite, there are three restaurants to choose from along with a mini market for guests wanting to whip up their own treats.
